Granite - Granite is an igneous rock of volcanic origin. Granite is generally composed of 30% quartz and 60% feldspar providing high range hardness (approx MOHS 5-6). In recent years discoveries of so called "New Granites" have introduced vibrant and amazing opportunities in colours and patterns, no longer limiting Granite to only homogeneous grain. Extremely scratch resistant, heat resistant and chip resistant with low porosity makes granite an excellent material for both internal and external applications. Ideally used for kitchen bench tops and flooring, Granite's resistance to all types of weather is also the perfect solution for external cladding. Traditionally finished in a high polish, new technology has produced a recent trend towards textured finishes such as flamed and brushed (leather) finishes.
