Made up of small to large interlocking crystals, in shades of white to cream, with hints of brown and black as well as some extraordinary flakes of bronze that sparkle under light. This very unique stone is technically a marble, but due to its high range hardness and acid resistance it is processed as a granite and hence is classified as a granite / quartzite in the dimensional stone industry. One of the very few stones in the world that can offer the luxurious look and feel of a marble but with the added bonus of having the durability of a granite. Showing hues of silvery blue to grey, intersected by a web of lighter grey veins and/or sharply defined thin to broad veins of lighter grey that may contain subtle hints of brown/beige & green. Large blocks sizes are generally not obtainable from this quarry so 3m+ long blocks are quite sort after.

These types of Granites are made up of a mixture of hard Quartz, which polishes to a high level, to softer Mica which does do not reach the same level of polish. Hence the varied appearance you see in the way light reflects off the surface and edges of these types of stone. Also they are generally a little softer in nature than your more traditional types of monumental Granites, so a little more care has to be taken when placing very hard and sharp objects against the surface of this stone. With its varying shades of deep blacks in the background which is intersected by small to very large swirls of transparent like, white to quartz coloured crystals randomly weaving their way through the stone. You will also find scatterings of very fine sparkling grains of silver to gold coloured mica. During the polishing process, these types of stone have a resin applied to the surface to fill any natural pits or fissures that may exist. Over time it is possible for some of the more minute pits that are too small to effectively hold the resin to reopen but this does not affect the integrity or detract from the beauty of this stone. Due to its unique beauty slabs of this stone are often book-matched polished meaning two consecutive slabs will be cut with the opposing faces polished to create a mirror image of each other. Hence slabs are only sold in number sequence which allows for a consistent flow in pattern.
